Meagan (Engh) Abercrombie was born and raised in the Fraser Valley, with deep roots in Mission and Abbotsford. Her family members are realtors, teachers, loggers, builders, and health professionals in the local community.
She has recently joined Baker Newby as an associate focusing on family law matters after practicing law at another large firm in the Fraser Valley.
Ms. Abercrombie has represented clients in both Provincial and Supreme Court. She is a compassionate and effective advocate who provides a clear path toward fair resolutions for those experiencing transition and/or conflict in their family life. She also seeks to resolve matters early, with cost-effective and creative out-of-court dispute resolution options, including knowledge in pet custody law and ability to draft companion animal agreements.
Ms. Abercrombie obtained her law degree from the Peter A. Allard School of Law at UBC in 2021 and was called to the bar in 2022, after completing an externship with Rise Women’s Legal Centre where she provided non-profit legal services for marginalized women facing family violence. Ms. Abercrombie is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia in good standing and a member of the Canadian Bar Association enrolled in the Fraser Valley Family Law section.
She has a heart for community involvement and has also volunteered with SARA for Women in Mission, the Immigration and Refugee Centre Society in Victoria, Pro-Bono Students Canada in Vancouver, the Mission Hospice Society, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Langley.
Ms. Abercrombie is of Coast Salish Squamish Nation (Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw) descent and is also half Costa Rican. She is happy to assist clients fluently in Spanish.
Outside of the office, you can find Meagan singing and playing guitar with her musical and wonderful husband at church, or hiking/ trail-walking with their lovable Pitbull.
